Whereas the first three books in this series were full of constant strife and issues such as rape, abuse, and sexual harassment to name a few, the problems Marillier tackles in this installment are far lighter. I liked this one MUCH more than book 3. Marillier’s gripping tale of adventure and enduring love bobbles slightly at the start, mostly due to Clodagh’s modern attitude and cadence, but slides quickly and assuredly into a grand tale of ancient Erin.
I say apparently because, oddly, I have absolutely no recollection of reading this book previously. They are closest to the storytelling style of the Light Isles books. Read more Read less. While I did need to remember the story and characters of the earlier Sevenwaters books, my protagonists are either completely new characters, or characters who had very small roles in the earlier books.
How Have You Been? I would buy marilleir without a second thought, even at a higher price. To ask other readers questions about Heir to Sevenwatersplease sign up.
Heir to Sevenwaters
JM has a knack for creating villains that are so appropriately nasty and worthy of utmost hatred. Even Beacon, the changeling baby, became a background detail.
I believe in being attracted to someone when you first meet them, I believe in having an admiration for someone you first meet them– and maybe after that, it develops into something more. I just loved the Sevenwaters Trilogy and although it will contain the much-loved old characters, I cannot wait to meet the new ones!
Heir to Sevenwaters (Sevenwaters, #4) by Juliet Marillier
I always finish your books much too quickly because I enjoy them so! Instead, it is her perseverance despite the burdens placed before her that make her such an engaging heroine. I adore the mythological aspect of these stories, and how Marillier weaves fairytale and drama together so expertly. I absolutely love your books also. Flame follows Maeve, one of Lord Sean’s daughters, on her return to Sevenwaters after ten years away at Harrowfield.
Also I liked how at the beginning of the quest Clodagh is overwhelmed of what is going on, she is not a warrior and she is honest about that, she is not fearless, she is afraid and she knows that but the fact that she loves so strongly she takes risks for the ones she loves and that is much better then a heroine that has skills of a warrior but does not know to love to the fullest. That’s not to suggest the Sevenwaters series is the above, it’s so much more.
Would you like to tell us about a lower price? That would be more than great.
One of my English teachers once told my class that instead of telling her daughter the fairy tales of Disney legend, the classic Snow White and Sleeping Beauty that had the gallant princes arriving to save the day, she’d always change the ending so that heit princess saved herself or, better yet, saved the prince too.
Sometimes jyliet disagree, which makes it difficult for the author. The process is a bit like this: When her daughter, only a mere seven years old, got cancer, we all visited her nuliet and still do visit her – in the hospital and would help tell stories; stories of women strong enough One of my English teachers once told my class that instead of telling her daughter the fairy tales of Disney legend, the classic Snow White and Sleeping Beauty that had the gallant princes arriving to save the day, she’d always change the ending so that the princess saved herself or, better yet, saved the prince too.
But at times it just made the females in the story seem like chopped liver. Their lives change when, together, they must embark upon a journey of self-discovery that will lead them far away and closer to each other.
I had no idea you were writing not being very internet savvy and when I saw the book by sevenwaterss on the shelf I grabbed it as soon as I could afford it!
I liked that Clodagh was a homemaker and I liked her devotion to and integration with her family. I often write in the first person, and sevnewaters main protagonist is usually a young woman.
I was very disappointed by Clodagh’s character she wasn’t the sort of heroine that I was expecting. While taking charge of the household in her mother’s place, Clodagh discovers more and more about the two young guardsmen—and it turns out that neither one is as he seems.

Fainne is to complete a task for her grandmother–go to her mother’s home, to meet her family for the first time I sort of felt the same with the romance in Heir to Sevenwaters, even though I wish there had been more buildup to it. Young adults and adults alike deserve more than that.
