Mar 20, Annette rated it it was ok Shelves: Lots of feeling from abuse as a child and was done well. Reiinke has been abused and mistreated by his fa Brandon is a one of a kind hero. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. I highly recommend this not only to those who are fans of the vampire genre, but to those who like seeing characters not normally seen in the world of romance.
Paranormal romance, inter-racial romance, a disabled hero paired with a strong heroine and evil vampire villains just for starters.

It is surprisingly different, action packed, cruel, loving and just plain all around fantastic that I for one cannot put this book down. Sep 09, Stacie added it.

They are all hardworking and compliant and that is what makes this family who they are. Reinke threw out the rule book when ghirst wrote this book. That’s a good thing.
He reads lips and carries a notepad with him at all times to convey his words. I very much appreciate Ms. The timing of which I was not able to entertain from the first book, but somewhere hhirst around once every two to three months or so, many even less often. First, the main male character Brandon starts out as a teen. Horrified by his birthright, Brandon shunned the ritual of the first erinke, earning the Brethren’s lasting wrath.
Some men have only one wife, some have several but what is so critical at the moment is the high infant mortality rate and the low conception rate of the families. Solid writing with some sexy-cute moments and well-detailed action, but without a real strong, snapping sparkle. Tnirst story picks up several years later–Brandon is now 21, far past his bloodletting; his twin sister has been married off for several years, and The Grandfather is losing patience, especially when he discovers Brandon has applied and been accepted to Gauladet University–behind The Grandfather’s back.
The Grandfather as he is referred to is the leader of this mighty family and is the most brutal, abusive and lethal of the clans. As a result, his twin sister, Tessa, and his younger sister, Emily, go in his place, much to The Grandfather’s displeasure. Despite this, Brandon shows an inner strength, kind of in a Zen way.
This was a plesant surprise. I don’t normally read paranormal romance, but this book’s very close to urban fantasy so I made an exception.
His meeting Lina will set so many emotions in play and challenge everything that he is. New York Times best-selling author Karen Robards calls Reinke “a new paranormal star” and Love Romances and More hails her as “a fresh new voice to a genre that has grown stale.
Unfortunately I do not fall into that category. Considered weak thlrst to the robbery and attempted murder he experienced as a child that stole his speak and hearing, he lives with constant abuse.
Lina is a no-nonsense policewoman and she instinctly knows there is something going on with Brandon.

DARK THIRST: Book One in the Brethren Series
He’s actually several years younger than Angelina, the woman of his dreams. The Brethren are male and female vampires that intermarry only, in fact they MUST marry another reinks the Brethren only, they do have children and they do eat normal human food, only needing to feed rarely.
It’s an intriguing world the author has created and adds an extra dimension to the characters by their responses to this lifestyle. He’s also able to speak with his mind to those who allow it. I was surprised by many things: I highly recommend this one.
