It leaves a lot of room for DMs to create on the fly, and to assist with that, it even includes random generation tables for both rooms and encounters! However, I got them out without issue.

I assume this was a deliberate choice informed by the looming DDN push. Many iconic locations are still faithfully represented and the layouts are not presented in a way that are very instruction heavy. Pages with related products. Given the size of the first level alone which not covered by this sourcebook, there is plenty of places to create additional plots and adventures within the Undermountain.
Admittedly, it is a massive level. This content is really very good and does a great job of making this more of a story and dynamic adventure and less of a boring dungeon crawl.
Would you like to tell us about a lower price? Without going into full details about the adventures, and to avoid any chance of spoilers, what I can say is that the three adventures are fairly comprehensive crawls, with a mixture of combat encounters, exploration of areas, obstacles and traps to overcome, and mysterious magical phenomena to puzzle out. The encounters themselves are a lot of fun. I found it easy to “scale” things up or down to be appropriate to the party.
Amazon Second Chance Pass it on, trade it in, give it a second life. I don’t find this particularly useful. The second map details three encounter areas which appear in three adventures of Halls of Undermountain. It comes with a fantastic poster map that has the entire floor map of the 1st level on one side and the interior of the Yawning Portal Inn on the other as well as another poster map with a couple of decent battle map locations on either side.
On the reverse and on another 2-sided poster map are really nicely done battlemap tile poster images for several of the more interesting rooms and for the famous Yawning Portal tavern.
I didn’t read the older Undermountain supplements before 4ebut my hopes where high because of its strong reputation.

We have a group that meets about once a month and used this adventure recently and was very pleased. This is the first book in a long time where I look at it and regret buying it at full price, hallss only because of how sparce it is in size.

The original boxed product contained three adventures, plus pages more material and maps of not just one, but four levels of the Undermountain. The authors also offer a meta-adventure which links the three adventure together, although they can be run separately as stand-alone pieces. Review of Halls of Undermountain by Wizards of the Coast
My memories from the old books from past editions are undermountaln great, and this 4E version are just as good as the previous manuscripts. The size and thickness of the folded maps did give me a bit of trepidation halls I slowly tore them out of the covers, being concerned that the thickness of that many layers might make them prone to tearing. The authors provide each area a number and the type of encounter that takes place here combat, exploration, trap, etc.
